Just to get back to the garden swap idea- does anyone know if it would be legal to do an international swap of seeds? I have some idea that it is not really legal, but what about international sites that sell seeds? I would be so into that swap if it was allowed!

Essentially that's a big-ass no-no at least for Australia & New Zealand. A REALLY big no-no. There's many gardening sites even within Australia that are (for example) based in Sydney but unable to ship seeds to Western Australia due to internal quarantine. Fuck - even in my state (Victoria) if you come in and out of various locations just over the border they ask you to dump fruit to prevent the spread of fruit fly. Fly into Tasmania, they've got sniffer beagles to seek out fruit that has to be destroyed.

Those are just our internal quarantines. Please don't try to send seeds to Australia - if you're really curious, I can get a link to our quarantine regulations for sending goods by mail into Australia.

Darn about the seed swap! Cry but maybe I could just do some other gardening type goodies!

I've never tried lilly pilly jam before. I should, I really should. Is it really sweet, or does it have a bit of tartness? I'm getting ideas that a bit of a tart jam would be nice over a rare-cooked kangaroo steak. It'd have to have a distinct tart taste though.

no no kangaroo is much nicer in a slow braise with mashed preg_replace('/(.{19})/', '$1 ', 'spudies....YUMMYYYYYYY') I grew up on that.
or tiny whole spuds done in the pan with the meat.
you gotta let the water simmer out before you add more to get a really good flavour though

I never tried lilly pilly jam before.....mind you I make jams I just don't eat them

I'm still working on a long-cook kangaroo rendang curry. If I can get that right, I may never need to eat anything else again.

I've never heard of Kangaroo steaks before.  Hmmm....taste like chicken?

I'm a pretty adventurous eater.  If I ever get to AU, I'll have to try it.
