Just out of curiosity, is anyone else in this swap from Indiana?

Well, I've sent in my questionairre...I haven't swapped since moving to New Zealand 3 years ago so I hope I'm still good to go!  Also, in keeping with the frugal theme of the swap, I hope there's someone in NZ or Australia in this swap as well so I don't have to spend a fortune on posting...

Okay, my mom has informed me that I need someone to make me fingerless gloves, because my hands are "freakin' freezing" (insert German accent here).

I know what you mean about this swap's positive influence, Aikibookworm! I constantly find myself making conscious decisions to put something in the store down and either move on or find a cheaper alternative, especially for crafts. If I need something, I find it for cheap on Ebay or not at all. I'd rather give my money to another person rather than a store.

I did however make some really yummy 'FRIGERATOR SOUP' this weekend..(stove on = warmer house)........ that is I opened up the frige and what ever was in there went into my soup.... tomatoes, carrotts, celery, tofu, beans.... and a whole bunch of spices that I picked out of the pantry with my eyes closed.........then I had to throw in some brown rice too....... I was really impressed....its way yummy...... and I have enough for the week.....

Been eating that for about 3 days now! Just finished what was left in the fridge with some cheese bread. I also have 4 sacks of frozen soup. Wish I woulda thought about freezing them in muffin tins first.

Who was it who canned soup? Can you just do a hot water bath, or do you need a pressure canner? I'd love to have jars of soup in my pantry even more!

Oh, yeah, I'm also going to pay ALL my library fines when I get paid this week and stop buying books and using interlibrary loan. Also, I'm  not going to return them late so I don't get anymore fines. Just wanted to make that public.

If there are any NZ swappers who are waiting in the wings and just watching the swap, feel free to join!  You'd have in-country shipping!

Smiley

And this swap is a good influence on me, too!  I've made some good decisions as well - I have dinner for tomorrow made already so I won't get takeout on the way home *and* I've got lunch for the next couple days too from leftovers.  Gotta love planning.  Far cheaper!

You are supposed to pressure can soup. Hot water bath doesn't get hot enough to kill the bacteria. I just bought one last summer and love it! Well worth the investment.

There's 2 Aussies already, and me who's dithering about - I will be applying before the sign ups end, I'm just, yeah. Dithering about trying to fool myself that I'm getting my freelance work done first. So if there's no other Kiwis joining in, I reckon you'd be okay if you're happy to send to Oz.

flower-- I eat low carb, and try to do as much whole food cooking/baking as possible, I use a lot of recipes from healthyindulgences.blogspot.com . She is gluten free, and frequently gives the dairy free option in her recipes (ie oil instead of butter or coconut milk instead of heavy whipping cream). Everything I've made from her recipes is amazing.

pixieval, I love the idea about sending craft supplies that wouldn't have to be bought! If anyone is into inchies/altered art/paper ephemera/random watch parts/glass vials, I could totally put together a bit of craft supply spoiling!

Oh my gosh, I don't think I'll be able to keep up with you guys.  I type a lot, especially when excited as my questionnaire will show, but I'm pretty sure I'll be mostly quiet on here.  Too many good ideas are making my head spin.  And too many things I forgot to put on my list that I'd like to receive or make.  I'm sure I'll be sending my partner another book of things to add to the list.

I didn't even think about jewelry.  I also like to receive/make headbands from scrap fabric, magazine beads, and there are some other ideas I've had that I haven't done yet.

Embroidered snark is awesome.  And I LOVE embroidered tea towels.  I only have one right now but I used to love my grandmothers.

I have developed a serious love of headbands/eawarmers/caloriemetries, I would also love to play with some paper beads. Great ideas!  Smiley

I think we might be great swap buddies.  Smiley

I would be down with making a first aid kit for someone or even helping to get them set up to be able to make their own!

Awesome idea! I use our all of the time.

Eh, we are less than graceful and much too full of daring for our own good at times.   Wink
