This is for my parents for Christmas. They said they'd like wall decor for Christmas, but my budget this year is $0, so instead of buying a painting, I made this. 2/3 of my kids. I can't paint, or sculpt, or anything like that, but I can sew.

It is all machine applique, on hand-cut pieces. It is 16"x20" so they can frame it if they like, but if not there are loops on the back for hanging it on the wall with a rod or by other means.

Closeup of Gavin's eyes.

Back.

This is AMAZING, they are going to be so happy to recieve this and your children will love growing up seeing themselves represented so creatively. I love to applique too and I sincerely take my hat off to you for the skill you show here.

Thank you. I feel really good about it. I know they won't get the same thing from anyone else at least!  Cheesy

That is really good, both the appliqué-ing and the rendering of the photograph. it's very striking.

Fantastic - that applique looks mighty fiddly and it has come out beautifully.  I love how you've figured out how to translate the photo into just three shades as well.  What a wonderful gift.

Thanks. There was a lot of photoshoppery involved before I could print a pattern. Yes, it's terribly fiddly applique - lets just say that I would happily have babies with Sulky Co as I am so indebted to their Sticky stabilizer, and their temporary sew-able spray adhesive.

Wow, what an amazing piece of work!
And corduroy isn't the easiest fabric to use in small pieces.
I'm impressed! (And I bet your parents will be too.)
