Another Twinkie Chan inspired Scarf for my Thrifty Christmas gifts. This one is a Candy Button design I made for my younger, 6-year-old cousin. I've been playing with all sorts of ways to make different shapes and designs with crochet but this was pretty straightforward.

I started by making the white paper, with my trusty red-heart Yarn (I told you it was a thrifty year) and estimated the length. I read that children's scarves are 40'-46' inches typically so I roughly went off of that keeping in mind I'd be adding fringe (a first). After I knit the entire white "paper" part I started on my bobble "buttons" - if anyone has a suggestion on bobbles, I'm all ears, my fingers are STILL sore. Lastly I added on my fringe which for my first time I am thrilled with!

And here is my finished Product:

Thanks to my trusty teddy-bear model!

A better picture of the bobbles and fringe.

and an un-crossed shot so you can see both sides.

As always, Comments, Questions, and Suggestions are welcome! As a beginner I could really use some pointers!

I am a teacher and a mom, and I am always crafting things as gifts for my kids and students.  I have NEVER EVER seen a scarf like that and I am going to keep it in mind to make for next year's class (too late now).  That scarf is awesome!

So cute! I could tell what it was right away, great job! I used to love those candies when I was little but I tried some earlier this year and thought they were gross, guess taste definitely changes as you get older Smiley

Of course the Snozberries taste like Snozberries Cheesy lol

I'm glad you all like it, like I said I''m just starting out so I was really nervous about posting but I'm glad I did! I wrapped up this scarf last night and put a tag on it that says "Olde Tyme Candies" and tapes a package of the actual Candy Buttons on there so she gets a treat as well as something useful. But I remember not liking the pink ones myself :/

Does anyone know if they're supposed to be certain flavors?

My TEENaged daughter has been bugging me for a scarf like this, but I haven't figured out a way to make the candy dots without making a mess of carried yarn on the back side.

You did a great job.  I sure would love to know how you did the colors so neatly. (after I posted, I read how you did it...but did you do 1 bobble at a time and tie off or did you manage to do the same color with a single thread?)

Nice job! Love the colors!

Crocheting is like prostitution.  First you do it for love, and then for a few close friends, and then for money.  Maybe that is why they call us Hookers?

Thank-You everyone for the wonderful feedback!

Veggiechef- do you have any suggestions for care of things made of RedHeart? I read the label but I've heard mixed stories about actual care.

Smittenheart- Since I've seen Twinkie-Chan's website, I really am seeing ideas EVERYWHERE!!!

Everkutz- I did one bobble at a time, treating the front of my work like the previous row and working in a circle, decreasing to make it round. It was really tedious lol, but the result was only a tiny little x on the backside of my work under each "button". I had an Idea to help if I ever made another one, You could probably get some buttons -Real ones for like a sweater- and put them on the reverse or just use them to be the "buttons".  If that was confusing I apologize, the word button covers so many basis!

Again thank-you everyone!  Grin

this is so cute  Cheesy

the flavors are supposed to be cherry (pink), lime (blue), and lemon (yellow)

but i think they all kinda taste the same!

That is such a cute scarf!
As far as Bobbles go with color variations....might I suggest a book I purchased called "From Needles to Hook-Complete Guide to Converting Knit Patterns to Crochet"  from The Needlecraft Shop.
This book has both knit and crochet instructions for each pattern, stitch, etc.
There is a Gum Balls Stitch Pattern that would probably be beneficial to you.
