trinket box with foil painting

I made this for secret santa gift card for work.  It's made out of a vcr case wrapped in foil, which I painted with watercolors.  I also lined the inside with fabric and ribbon.  I just hot glued some lace on the outside front, and some silver beads on the bottom for legs.

I have another VCR case that's clear. I think I am going to make it bigger by pasting some cardboard on top.  I'm so excited with this craft. I wonder how many different ones I can make.

the paint does come off a little at a time.  I saw that when I was wrapping it up just now.  I wonder what will happen if I seal it with mod podge. hmmmm

What a great craft!  I love it when folks figure out what to do with something that is otherwise trash.

And you made it look so good.  How did you hinge the lid?  Is it just with the fabric?

It's an old vcr case, so it was already attached.  I just wrapped the foil around the little lip of the case. I went back and glued the top, but not the bottom so it still rustles like aluminum foil!!  Oh well, we live and learn!!
