I wasn't sure whether to put this in cooking or here ... I chose here since a) I'm not actually cooking, and b) these are gifts.

I used this recipe (I've made it before, and it's yum, though 1/4 c. of butter is PLENTY) and put the dry ingredients in large Ball jars.  Then I cut a square of fabric, put a rubber band to hold it and a pretty ribbon to hide the rubber band.  I printed off labels and directions onto card stock and used a 2" punch to cut them out.  Finally, I doublesided taped them to the jars ... I think they look rather pretty!

(ignore my kitchen in the background!)

Only problem is now I'm hungry for beer bread!  Smiley

Wow, these look really nice.  Do you have a recipe for beer bread?

Thank you!  And yes - I use this recipe, which is ...

3 cups flour, sifted (it has to be sifted or else it won't come out well!)
3 t. baking powder
1 t. salt
1/4 cup sugar
12 ounces beer
1/4 cup melted butter

Combine dry ingredients and then add beer.  Mix well and pour into greased loaf pan.  Pour melted butter on top.  Bake at 375 for one hour.  Let cool 15 minutes and then remove from pan.

Enjoy!

It's an easy recipe to throw together and is so tasty!

Oh, thank you.  This looks so simple.  Now I just have to go buy some beer.  (I don't drink beer, so I don't have any on hand.)

Thank you for this idea. I have two mason jars I need to return to my Dad and I've been trying to think of something to fill them with. This is perfect.
