i made this dress for the monster girl for the season, and this is by far the most complicated thing i've sewn, i generally stick to appliqued tees and elastic waist pants, lol! my mom  smocked the panel and told me to make a dress for it, lol. thanks ma! made my pattern by tracing out a similar wrap dress she had, just enlarging to account for growth. i'd gotten a little sleeves/collar pattern but hated how it was coming together, so went this route instead. fabric is corduroy, which was a little beastly, but not too bad Smiley

This is a really pretty dress and well done!  I live in the South and smocked dresses are a must for all little girls. Your mom did a great job on the smocking!  Together you did a wonderful dress!
