Hi First time posting in this section soooo be easy on me people! I was super excited to make this dress. I got the fabric from Ikea of all places and was totally loving it.... then I sewed the front and held it up to me.... instantly I was like " Fuuuuuuuuu** I look like I work at Rubys!!!!" which of course I sort of did...

then my lovely grandma reminded me that Washington doesnt have Rubys so when I was on my vacation I wore it. While walking through Pike Market a vendor called me "Candy cane girl..." Seriously? NOOO but despite all that I love it. It fits wonderfully and the way its sewn on the bodice sides is really flattering also the stripes go down not across.... I didn't add the little button part in the front but oh well. tell me what you guys think!!!

I love it. I agree with the belt idea, that would look great but it looks great just like that too. I also love your hair btw.

wow, it's really well-made and you look cute!

i had a possible idea about the candy-cane 'dilemma'...
IF it bothers you.  but if it doesn't, then just ignore.

if it's a natural fiber fabric, you could dye it, either a color like pink or orange that will coordinate without disturbing the red (giving red with orange or pink stripes), or a color like turquoise that would turn the red to purple (or possibly dark burgundy) with turquoise stripes...

ok i have no idea if those color combinations are horrible to you, but maybe you could find one that you do like.

That looks like such a fun dress to wear!

I say no to buttons. I love this, and I don't like cutesy things. I feel the buttons might push it over the edge. Th ebelt would look great, as would a small scarf tied to break up the neckline.

And doesn't he know candy canes have red spiral lines?  Cheesy
