Years ago I found a pair of pants that I thought were adorable. Black denim but with black and red lace details. So what did I do? Purchased them, of course!

But that's not the end of the story. I wore them on a pretty regular basis, so eventually the fabric frayed and holes developed. So sad. They were still too pretty to throw away, so I made a skirt with legwarmers to match!

Not the most clever of creations, I'll admit, but a good use of a pair of pants that were in no condition to be worn. Now it has plenty of days left ahead!

Please ignore the lens flare in the pictures. It's hard enough to race in front of the camera after hitting the timer, much less check the angle and lighting!

I didn't think to take notes while making these to later write a tutorial with, but I'm sure there are people on Craftster who have done the same thing.

That's awesome! I really love the backs of the leg warmers. I've wanted to do something like this for a loooong time and yours is definitely inspiring!

You should post a pic and link to your thread in this sew-along (which is where I first got the idea, but no attempts yet Tongue):

Thanks for the tip! I did what you suggested and commented on that thread.

I can't take any credit for the ribbon and lace design on the legwarmers. I actually purchased the pants like that. It's a great idea and would be pretty simply to do though!
