So, I never find dresses that I both like and that fit well (does that sound familiar anyone?), so I made one instead.

I didn't use a pattern, I just started with an idea and went with it. It fits me perfectly Cheesy It is in some kind of really heavy satin, which I think drapes perfectly. It has a quite poofy skirt and it did end up a bit shorter than intended.

It took me ages to find the lace. It was also the most expencive thing on the whole dress.I also made a corsett to go underneat since I can't wear a bra with straps with it and I have quite a lot to support.

I just wish I hadnt made it in black since everyone else also wears black dresses. But I love it anyways <3

wow, thats one of the prettiest dresses i've seen on this site. you look happy and beautiful in it. (i checked your age in your profile, you look so young! it says you're 22 so this is okay to say) your boobs look great too! good job on the undergarment.  if i could SOMEHOW make this in cream and dye it yellow i'd have the perfect bridesmaid dress for my sisters wedding this summer. i'm a big girl (US 14/16 at 5'4'') i wish i could sew well and/or read a pattern! how long did it take you, a skilled seamstress, to make?

That's very cute. I love it especially with the lace. I am still looking for lace that is nice but not too expensive so I dare cutting into it. Where did you find it?
I think it's very pretty in black and if you think Audrey Hepburn, you can't have too many black dresses. And there's no reason why you can't make another one in a different colour.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments *blush*

I dont have a dressmaker so I couldnt drape it - I just started making a fitted tubetop, added skirt and then added the lace. I think I have ripped out every seam in the dress at least twice. I think I spent around four days on the thing - working all afternoon and evening. A pattern wouldve been easier I guess, but not so much fun, lol.

Lol, thanks for the boob compliment, melyssa. The corset was really helpful in that department Wink It wasnt so hard as it was time-consuming. And that there was a slight stretch in the fabric went along way to concealing small mistakes.

The lace WAS ridiculously expensive, i think it was 15 a meter. I found it in a small shop somewhere in London. I dont think I could find it again if I tried Smiley And yeah, black is the most classy color - its just a bit of a bummer when everybody else is wearing black too.
