I've been wanting to work on a big project for a while now and I finally decided to make an afghan! However, I don't want to make granny squares. I want to crochet a one piece afghan. But I also want to use the Tunisian stitch.

Is Tunisian stitch something that can be used for one piece afghans, or would I have to have a really long crochet hook..? I've never used the stitch before, so I'm not really familiar with what I can and can't use it for.

Thanks!  Grin

You can absolutely make a one-piece blanket with Tunisian crochet (I'm doing so now!) But you will need a long hook.

My blanket is about 5 feet wide, I'm using Bernat Soft Boucle, and a 14" long, 9mm double-ended hook that I've wrapped an elastic band around the end to keep the stitches from falling off. It just *barely* fits.

You can get Tunisian hooks with a cable attached, which makes bigger blankets easier to work on, but I don't have any, so I make do. Smiley
