I saved a very, very old Alice in Wonderland book from the garbage a while back and decided to use it as the center of my BFFF's birthday present this year. We both try and reuse everything so it seemed very fitting. I also have a TON of empty jewel CD cases laying around so I decided I would use them for my project as well. I used scrapbook papers for the backing and tied ribbons to the top so she could hang them easily. I love them and am planning on  making myself a Dr. Seuss themed one! Comments/Criticism  please!  Grin

I love this! I was thinking about doing something similar with a Harold and the Purple Crayon book I found. Lovely!

Very nice. Did you paint the cases?

The only purpose of the day job is to buy the craft supplies!! Cheesy  Seriously, I LOVE making personalized crafts. I now have a line of hand-crafted fans and notecards using the Zentangle (R) technique. I have also become a Certified Zentangle Teacher and teach other artforms and techniques.

Very cool idea. I just watched a re-imagining of Alice in Wonderland on the syfy channel so I am very much in an Alice mood.

Thanks everyone! Yes, I did spray paint the backs and sides of the cases. I used the spray paint specifically made for plastic - no primer needed.

I never thought of using old cases like that! Wonderful idea! My grandchildren have trashed so many pretty books that I can not donate and have been trying to make art with, now I have MORE inspiration! Thank you!
