So I was making up zip pouches for my sister and did these batik patchwork side panels using up scraps from my bin. The panels were really attractive and they told me they wanted to be a bag. I have a whole bunch of gorgeous hand-dyed fabric from my friend Karen at Ruby Mountain Dyeworkshttp://www.etsy.com/shop/rubymountaindyeworks. There was a SMASHING lime green in there that became the body of the bag. Then I went all embellishment happy... with beads and charms and this neat flat yarn I got on clearance at Big Lots. I'm not sure what it's called, but it looks great couched onto there.

I also used some handmade ceramic charms from two other etsy artists. The edges of the bag top were raw edged patch worked, so they will fray with use. I was going to make it reversible... so that the bag could flap to either side, but I got lazy on the beading ... so it just goes the one way. There's no closure on the bag.. just the flap over. So it's basically a tall tube that flaps over. with the handle on the back side. It is meant to be across the body.

a little more info is on my blog http://www.solsistershandbags.com/2009/12/i-sewed-something.html

Another great bag.  You always do such a good job choosing embellishments for you bags, which is not something just anyone can do.

One is less than three.

How very kind of you to say so! You should see my button/bead/yarn collection. It is ALMOST as large as my stash of fabric.... Smiley
