Just some foods that I made when I was bored. I'm trying to use up all my Sculpey III so that I can buy new Fimo clay... Sculpey III is way too soft for this type of work!

I only found out I forgot to salt two of my pretzels after I baked them... i'm really blind!

This cake was a bit of a fail actually... I wanted the red jam to look more realistic and liquid-y but it just didn't work. I actually just can't do cakes in general, there's something about layers that screws me up.

Some Japanese Wagashi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wagashi) which I was hoping would turn out more translucent.

These were made out of air dry clay - it's impossible trying to get the smeared, rough texture of ice cream on Sculpey III.

For me - one good year of practice until I got it right, and some of them still aren't right. I actually take up tiny crafts like amigurumi and this because I like to 'save money' by making a craft that 'uses less material' which is the worst excuse ever, because it's so small it just means you make lots of it!

ADORABLE!  I love how you did the ice cream scoops, they're perfect.  I don't do this craft regularly but I love looking at other people's, and you're right, the ice cream made out of polyclay never looks quite right!

It amazes me how you can make something so realistic (that tiny) out of clay!  I want to go buy ice cream now, hehehe Cheesy

Thanks everyone! You don't know how many times I cried over the ice cream - it just never looked right and when these turned out, I think I declared it 'happiest day of my life!'. So far nothing has trumped it - I lead a sad, mini clay foods-dominated life.

And I'm desperately in awe of people who can knit Cheesy! I took a look at your flickr and your illusion shawl is beautiful! I've tried to knit since I was 15 and it's never turned out well. I just don't have the patience.

Thank you! They were actually meant to be custard tarts filled with fruits haha... I got lazy with the fruits (obviously) and it turned out too yellow for custard anyway. So woo, lemon pie by pure coincidence!

WONDERFUL
There's a tute on the toasty look in the blog on my link. Basically you get a brown pastel pencil and rub it on some paper to get it powdery and 'paint' the powder onto the top of the 'waffle'. I can post the tute on craftster as well if you want.

Personally I think the cake is adorable and delicious looking. This kind of thing also makes me realize just how food obsessed I really am because I'm just dying over the cuteness!!  Grin

Thank you! I think I might be biased because I'm not a big cake fan in real life - there's something about crumbs that I really hate!

Sigh I do crave ice cream now... cookies and cream. Mmm.

Those pretzels are amazing! I love the salt. I am so bad, working with clay. I remember being pretty good in the sixth grade, for a sixth grader, haha, but it seems I'm at the same skill level now, as I was then.

Thank you! The salt was a freakin' nightmare to make and it's really turned me off making pretzels for a while actually. This is probably completely off topic but I looked up your posts and you like Kingdom Hearts! Who cares if you don't know how to make clay items, you play KH and that is cool is my book! Plus it was an adorable cross stitch - I don't think I could cross stitch to save my life.

Hi Riechan! Wagashi is beautiful - look it up on flickr and you won't regret it. I don't know how anyone eats wagashi, i'd just spend all day looking at it! And having pretzels without salt must be good for your heart and blood pressure. My poor heart has to deal with lots and lots of salt for my pretzels!

The second I saw the strawberry shortcake, I was like HOLY CRAP THAT'S FANTASTIC! Then I read the lies you wrote below it about not being good at cakes. Wink

Lol that's sweet, thank you so much! But it really is true, this one was flukey. Most of my cakes end up being wasted clay - i'm trying hard!

For Christmas my little cousins and I started making little clay items because the kids were bored - unfortunately the 3 year old did not know clay was not a food! Thank God for non toxic, but he started bawling. Either it was that delicious or that horrible Tongue.
