Wow - very impressive!  Are these gifts for the holidays, for sale, or just because?  I really like the one with the girl flying the kite!

All three! Smiley I can not help making them, I have too many ideas swirling around Smiley Thank you for your comment, I keep checking back to see if anyone has left one. Smiley So happy when I see "replies to my posts" Somehow, I feel rejected when I don't get any. Sad silly, but I guess that is the whole reason for posting, to share and get feedback right ? Anyway, thanks! -Casey

I know what you mean by wanting to see some replies - I often feel like no one likes my stuff if there are no responses, ya know?  I bet more people will respond, though - they're really cool.

These are so whimsical and pretty. What a wonderful way to make a mini art quilt usable instead of just hanging it on the wall. Rocks!

Your bags are terrific. Did you design the appliques yourself?

Thank you so much for your replies! Smiley Smiley I did design my appliques. Although, the kite one was my husbands idea. He loves to remind me of that. Smiley

I LOVE that first one....amazing job on the applique! I should start putting a little more detail into mine instead of just outlining the edges. I guess I never thought of it before....thanks for the inspiration!

The bags are beautiful!  I think my fav is the one with the kite, too.  Smiley

The applique makes a simple bag extra-ordinary!  I'll be the recipients will love them!

How long does is take you to complete one of the appliqued bags?

The appliques themselves take between 1 -3 hours. Considering the design time, the cutting time, and the sewing time. The rest of the bag is usually an hour and a half to 3 hours. Depending on whether I do patchwork or just plain fabric. I would guess they take even longer though, because I get pretty caught up in fabric selection, and will spend forever agonizing over which fabrics will work the best. Smiley I say agonizing, but I am usually dancing and singing while I go, so its not as bad as it sounds Smiley

Casey, these look great.  I really like the sun one.  I think with a purply-pink sky, it would like one of my favorite sunsets!  Awesome!

I love the angel.  I'm working on a semi quilt, crochet blanket-coverlet of angels and unicorns (daughter of a friends idea)  the angel one hit me and inspired me right away.  thanks.  good job!!!

ps: I got frustrated too when I didn't get any replies.  but just sometimes, isn't the joy of creating outweigh what anyone might think of your work?  Hold on to that, and everything you make will be special.

I like them all, but I have to say, the very last one is my absolute favorite by far.  I love to color simple pictures with mountains and the sun and stuff and then imagine myself living right in the middle of it, and your bag totally fits me!

I want to make a quilt to hang on my wall with that scene on one side and the night scene on the other so I can change it out whenever I feel like it.  There's a painting of Tinkerbell on my bedroom wall that our landlord doesn't want painted over.  It's adorable, but my husband isn't so fond of it (lol, it's not very manly, I have to admit) so I have this ugly blanket hung up right now.  I can't wait to use your bag for inspiration and start designing!

I spend loads of time choosing fabrics for projects, too, so I'm not surprised that you "agonize" over the decisions for these bags.  You are very talented at choosing fabrics and at designing and sewing.

Wow!!! I can not thank you all enough for your kind words. I am so happy to have inspired blankets and totes and whatever else. I spent the entire day today with my machine in pieces trying to figure out what is wrong with it. I was practically in tears. I took a break tonight, and came here and read all this, and I feel much better... Thank you! Smiley -Casey

Now off to shop for a new machine... Smiley

I'd be thrilled with all of them.  Don't let it go to your husband's head, but the kite design sticks out to me, too.  I really love the combination of fabrics in that one; the way the sky is put together is just gorgeous.  Be proud of your work, and enjoy your new machine!
