The neighbors' son had a baby a few months ago, so while I was home for Thanksgiving, I threw together this baby quilt . . . it's about 3 x 3.5 feet.  Machine pieced, hand quilted, based on tumbling blocks, but scrappier.

Gwen is my quality control expert . . .

she approves!

Here's the completely irrelevant, but cute and soft flannel backing.

Your quilt is adorable.  I love the baby blocks.  And the cat. Cheesy

Beautiful job.  You say you "threw" together a hand quilted quilt?  How long did it take you?  My mind is boggled.

And I love that design, and the colors.  Oh, and I don't think backing is ever irrelevant!  I'm always interested in the backing of a quilt, and find you can see the quilting better on that side, anyway.

Again, great job!

Thanks, guys!  Pinokeeo, Gwen says she loves you too . . . if you have treats.

Scifimama and Moody--I started it on a Thursday and had finished it by the following Tuesday, working 1-3 hours a day.  The trick is to find a good rhythm in your quilting stitch, and to figure out the optimal quilting pattern so that you spend more time quilting in straight lines, and less time turning and rearranging the quilt . . . in this case, I quilted along one side of a chain of diamonds, turned it, and quilted back on the other side, moving from the center to the edges.  Moody, you should totally try it!  I find quilting so rewarding.

That's a fantastic present.  I really love the tumbling blocks pattern and the backing is completely adorable.  I greatly admire your quilting stitches too.  I still have not found my own rhythm yet, so I'm always impressed by other people's work.

I was thinking the same thing!  This is just lovely.  Even if I had machine quilted something like that, I don't think I could have finished as quickly as you did.  Also, I love the backing, and it looks like it really matches with the rest of the quilt.  Well done!

your quilt looks wonderful! I have yet to attempt a quilt, but when I do I'd like to hand quilt it, as I think it gives it that extra little touch Smiley
