I found these neat little clear ornaments at Hobby Lobby and thought "I bet I can put a tree in there!" lol.  So I did.  The ornaments are about 3 inches tall.

I made a tiny wire bonsai tree with 26-gauge silver-finish copper wire and close to 50 swarovski crystals.  I mounted it on a white river rock, covered the roots with some sugar-like white glitter with some iridescent glitter mixed in, glued the rock to the bottom of the ornament, added loose glitter to the bottom, and put white ribbon over the seam of the ornament.

I've used different types of Swarovkis for different ornaments, but for this one I used 2AB Crystal. They are gorgeous, and they kinda glow...

They are really hard to get good photos of...

Here's a shot where you can really see the "glow" of those 2AB Swarovskis

I wish I could show them in person! These photos were extremely hard to get, and they don't do justice to the real ornament. Still... what do you think? I taught a class to make them and the ornaments.  It was a fun class and everyone's ornaments were beautiful!

you're a genius.
it's beautiful.

i spent a lot of time thinking about stuff one could put into these ornaments because i love to buy them, but most of the things one can do with them look somewhat cheap or like a kindergarden-project (which is perfectly fine, just not what i'm going for)

maybe you need diffuse light to get pictures without all of the reflections. you could use a desk lamp or something alike and cover it with thin white fabric or paper. so you should be able to avoid using the flash/getting reflections

I love them! I've always liked the beaded trees, but didn't know what I'd do with one if I made it. The ornament idea is perfect.
