I made this little tree for my daughter's room so that she could decorate it (and not break our family tree ornaments!), and she loves it so much!
One side is brown felt, and the other is polka-dotted cotton, with a layer of batting in the middle. The ornaments and bows are felt with velcro on the back. I stitched the soft side of the velcro to the cotton side of the tree, and the felt side sticks to the ornaments just fine without it velcro, so it worked perfectly!

This was so much fun to make! I'd love to do a traditional green version as well!
Take care!

this is so much more functional and not as distroyable as a mini tree with ornaments.....  Which I've discovered my son (and his friends) has lost the mini ornaments off his already.  Bookmarking and rocking! great idea!

Love it!!  Such an awesome idea!  Do you think a trunk "pocket" would work for storing extra ornaments?  I know my son would just leave the ones on the floor that he didn't like on the tree LOL.
