My name is Scotskipper, and I am a fabricholic.

Can anyone point me to a site like Ravelry for yarn (another weakness of mine) that helps one keep track of fabric and patterns in the stash, and a list of projects planned or cut out?

I need the help of some higher power.

Thanks!

Wouldn't it help to create a page in Excel to record all that information in the fashion you'd like best?

A couple months ago, there was someone who posted a preview of an iPhone app they were working on, for just the purpose you want Cheesy So check the app store and see if it's there yet if you happen to have an iPhone.

if you happen to have an iPhone

I don't remember... it I do, it's lost somewhere in a pile of fabric!

This sparked my interest, so I searched for iPhone apps - there's one called "fabric journal." I bought it to try it out - I'm new to sewing and have already amassed a closet full of fabric (I can't stop buying it!!). I've been looking for a way to carry scraps of what I have with me so I don't rebuy things I already have....(already done it once...)

I have an ultra-organized friend who keeps a scrap of each fabric attached to a 3x5 card. She records the number of yards, fabric content, amount paid, and stuff like that on each card. She punches a hole in all of the cards and ring mounts them. She takes the cards with her to the fabric store so she can check to see if she has something similar before purchasing more fabric.

I imagine she doesn't have much time to shop, if she's taking the time to make all the cards Smiley
