I use e600 for metal and heavy objects--however, I used doublestick carpet tape recently to display some of my ATC's in sleeves, and so far--it seems to be working!

I'm a big fan of E6000. It's my go-to adhesive. Double stick tape might be as effective and less messy, though. Good idea, always!

 Try roughing up the edges a bit on the plastic before gluing. I had the same issue with a project, and just used Tacky glue. Any glue will work better, if the surface isn't slick.
