Ahem.

This marbleized peacock-inspired velour beauty reached out to me from the racks at Salvation Army.  I spent $2.99 (50% off sale on Black Friday), and it was mine...to destroy!

But first:  DH remembered the guidelines, and hastily reminded me of the "before" photos we still had to take.  He rushed out of the room, and returned like this:

To. Rock. It.  Can you see the metallic sheen?  It was made to show off chest hair.  Can you stand it!?

I couldn't. So I cut it up.  And transformed it into a laptop sleeve:

Here is DH, on his way to work, looking smart carrying his laptop in its elegant peacock-inspired color motif.  Let's have a closer look, shall we?

Note, if you will, the irony in turning the "sleeve" of the original shirt into the flap over the top of the laptop's cozy home.  But wait, there's more.

Note, too, how easily DH slides the modern machinery out of its lair.  Please allow DH to point out the detailed stitching on the bias-tape edging.  DH?

Thank you, darling.  Note how the scalloped stitching complements the undulations in the fabric's design.  Oooh.  Ahhhh.

If, however, you don't actually have a laptop (as we don't), or if you get hungry (as DH did), and you find yourself, umm...

...eating the legal pad ontowhich you taped an apple icon, well, then...

You can always use the laptop sleeve as a hat.

Enjoy!  And remember, vote for me!

LOL I love it! Your DH is wackier than mine.

I agree, the shiny peacock color was totally meant to show off chest hair!

wow. the shirt is just........ wow. Makes you wonder what designers are smoking that they would design- and approve- such a fabric. Makes a lovely tote though! And there would be no risk in anyone  sneaking away unnoticed with it. Has its own alarm system built right in!

Amazing model too- and so sweet for him to take time from a busy schedule of photo shoots and runway sachays for you!

Your DH rocks in awesomeness!

And, if your laptop cozy needs a laptop, I could either send you my laptop, or you could send me the cozy. I think the latter would work better for me (and my grades) tho. Cheesy

Well, the laptop sleeve is spoken for, and so's DH!

I do love the calendar idea, though.  Do you think my parents need to look at a different pose every month of my my darling husband?  Do his parents need to?

We have such fun together, and I'm glad it worked out.  The fabric, well, I could see the potential in it.  It's very soft and I actually do like the color scheme.  It was just...so...unweara ble in its original form.  It's much better now.

Thanks for the comments and praise for my model!

I have to tell you that I found myself THOROUGHLY entertained in reading this post. Your DH looks like quite the character. How utterly sweet of him to support your madness! I must say that I really LOVE the fabric! The colour and pattern is so juicy and the velvety goodness was, in my opinion, quite salvageable. I think if I had spotted that in the goodwill, I might not have been able to pass it up. I would have sworn it was whispering for me tom rescue it, lol! By the way, the close ups with your mention of showing off chest hair had my tearing up with laughter!
You did a nice job.
