Craft Challenge #46 - Gingerbread House Contest - Due Jan 1 - Jan 5

01/14/10 - Winner announced!

Congrats to LawrenceKSRealEstate for his entry titled, UP Inspired Gingerbread House for Big Brothers, Big Sisters Auction!
Read all about his project here:  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=332999.0

Check out the blog featuring a bunch of the other entries as well!  http://www.craftster.org/blog/?p=6928

01/06/10 - Time to vote!  Scroll up for the voting poll!

Browse all the challenge entries here:

01/01/10 - The entry board is open!  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?board=436.0

Get out those mixing bowls and get ready to decorate!  Your challenge this month is to make and decorate a gingerbread house.  Any type of house is permitted (cottage, castle, etc.) as long as it has walls and a roof of gingerbread.  Your entry must be made of edible parts, but it's not limited to sweets only.  The only non-edible parts allowed are a base, lighting and/or electrical components.  No gingerbread house kits for this challenge.  No size restraints -- miniature to life-size houses are tasty and welcome for this challenge.

Be sure to check out the gingerbread tag for recipe and inspiration ideas!

Rules:

  • Post your craft during the period of Jan 1 - Jan 5 2010. No sooner.  No later.  On Jan 1 there will be a special folder created for entries.  Please only enter a house made for this holiday season, 2009.
  • Voting will happen from Jan 6 - Jan 12 2010.
  • Each participant can enter ONE project (Although your entry can have multiple components to it).

Originality:

It's probably impossible to know whether your project is 100% original and has never been posted on Craftster or made by anyone else in the past.  But if your project was definitely inspired by something you've seen before, then just give credit to that project.

Prizes:

At the end, I'll set up a poll right here and the first place winner will get...

(1) their project in the Featured Projects area
(2) their project in the Craftster Blog
(3) and these prizes (winner can receive prizes in U.S. or non-U.S.):

A copy of Chef Joey's Cupcake Creation, written by Brenda L. Tuttle, as well as  Chef Joey's Baking Gift Bowl set: A 5-quart stainless steel bowl that is overflowing with all of the kitchen essentials to make Chef Joey's chocolate peanut butter cupcakes that are in Chef Joey's Cupcake Creation.  The gift bowl includes:  child-sized apron, stainless steel bowl, measuring spoons, measuring cups, liquid measuring cup, silicon spatula, frosting spreader, cupcake liners, and a cup-a-cake (a reusable cupcake holder that is perfect for use in lunches).

From Amazon:  Want to learn how cupcakes are made? Chef Joey will show you how to create delicious chocolate cupcakes in a sweet and interactive baking adventure that will bring children and parents together. A great start for beginning bakers, Chef Joey's Cupcake Creation brings fun and innovation to the children's kitchen. Happy Baking! Author, Brenda Tuttle and her husband Joseph met while they were attending culinary school in Pittsburgh, PA. After living all over the United States and working as a chef, Brenda settled in Las Vegas, NV. She enjoys: city life, traveling, theme parks, adventurous sports including sky diving and experiencing all kinds of food!

The winner will also receive any one item from one of Craftster's online shops!

Ut oh!  Could you make a modified recipe?  I've seen some allergy-free recipes, but not sure which allergens exactly.

It does have to be some sort of a house, but there are many types, so be creative!
