I hadn't thought of that, but you're right -- you don't see much quilting today, even really good stuff, that isn't machine-quilted.  Hand-stitching is a bit slow, but it's kind of soothing and good for doing while talking, watching TV, etc.

You know, one of my goals this year is to work through a book of sashiko designs...I am not sure I want to do an entire quilt, but maybe!!  I learned to hand quilt and have not done a lot lately, but it would be a nice thing to do summer evenings on the porch!

veri do a swap with me..I am curvaceous and live just over the water...

alwaysinmyroom and EdelC, thank you both! I like both ideas (I wasn't sure whether apron is ok for the courvaceous board since it can be worn by anybody so I'm glad it's ok). When you mentioned it my imagination ran wild Grin

So, edelC, would you like me to make you an apron? I have some ideas about it already  but I'd like to know your style so I could make it to your liking... And we theoretically live in the same country Cheesy (well, theoretically Tongue).

wow veri--you are working this craftalong!

Can I suggest that at the end of your list you actually put how many you have completed? or maybe highlight the "done"?  I like to visually see how much people get done to get my butt into gear! Smiley

I have never seen a quilt thats not hand quilted, I mean in person. Since making quilts is not big here all the quilts I have around are from Texas and they are all quilted differently but definitely by hand. How do you machine quilt? Do you need special tools for that?
Always- I didnt see anything about quilting by hand or machine in the book  Huh Maybe I should read it again Tongue
