A Year of Homemade Gifts! - 2011-2012 - Are YOU in?

Just wanted to show you all some pics of the apron I made!
I know someone here on Craftster made an apron with hot-pads in the corners, but I can't find it to give proper credit (if anyone has a brainwave please let me know).

Anyways - here it is!

I finished up these for my big one's 4th birthday gifts. A wallet and a batman tee-shirt (freezer paper stencil).

Well, I've never sewn a wallet before, but I knew it would need a few things. 1) A space big enough to freezer paper stencil the spiderman logo on 2) A zipper, because most of his "monies" are going to end up as change and 3) a snap or velcro that would be simple enough for him to manage opening and closing.

Some red broadcloth, teal bias tape, a teal zipper and a snap later. (And lots of cutting, swearing at myself and the sewing machine, and making up a pattern as I go) we have - the first ever sewn by Teamama Spiderman wallet!









Also - made this batman tee to go with it.

I have done very little this year for homemade gifts. Not much that's both in my skill level and suitable for the recipient. But this thread is inspiring! Since it's started, I've made mini muffins, bought other folk's handmade goodies, bought locally grown flowers, made jewelry and little boxes for my daughter, and did a bag for a walker. It hasn't been a year of handmade gifts, but it's been a start!
The two little nieces are getting fairy wing necklaces for Christmas-the one I made for myself turned out all right, so I feel comfortable making that again. The older niece wanted to buy book stack necklaces from me, for her mother in law to be and herself, so I just gave her a couple. I felt so proud, she said 'I'm telling everyone my aunt made these!'
I may just do a lot of baking again for people this Christmas....My siblings and I draw names, so it'll be a few months before I know to whom I'm giving a present.
I think I need to reread this thread, and make notes.

Wow! That's a really cool wallet ! My friend and the hubs would both love that wallet..unfortunate ly, I'm not a big fan of Spidey man  Did you come up with a pattern for it??
Now the shirt, I LIKE ! I love batman he's the best !

Please check it out and consider joining us. There will be a few changes from last year, mostly that you can personalize your pledge more, as I know a few of us (def. myself) found that making ONLY homemade gifts all. year. long. was really daunting/exhausting.

yes thankyou! I may not have posted many things (i find it so hard to get on the pc to upload pics) but i did make so many gifts and bought hardly anything (and felt a wee bit guilty when i did!)
