Old bras...

I know it sounds lame but I have some old bras made from pretty fabric that for one reason or another just don't do the trick. I'm slightly embarrassed to admit that I don't want to throw away old bras but I really don't know what I could do with them.

I have a couple I'm saving to take apart and make floofy nighties or some such lingerie type item with them.  Haven't quite worked out how that will work yet, so haven't tried it.  But that's my plan.

I think the bra purse would be awesome for a little girls dress up collection.
I guess the amount of cheesyness depends on you and what the bras look like to begin with.

I am same way I just cant throw pretty things out. I did use the clasps off one today on a current nightie project i am doing...so great for hardware.

You're not the only one who doesn't like to throw out "old" bras. Mine usually wear out or get funky pretty quick (cheap bras and I'm a big girl), so the only thing I can usually salvage from mine is the "hardware" as one comment suggested. I've used the clasp part to make my own "extender," instead of buying one at the store.

Other than the clasp, I suppose it depends on the kind of bra of what can be salvaged. I like that nightie idea, but that's not one I'm likely to be able to use.

Maybe if the fabric is in good enough shape, you could reuse it to make a little coin purse? Or a lip balm holder? Or make a discreet tampon/pad holder?

Yup, guess it pretty much depends on the bra!

I've heard that there's a big demand for bras in some African countries, because there currently isn't much manufacturing of bras available. So you donate them to a local charity?

I love this idea! Its perfect cause most of the bras I have are in good condition.

I do like the idea of creating a little coin purse or such! How cute! You could take out the underwire if you wanted, or leave it to give it "support"  Chop off the straps and sides, sew all the edges together. Maybe use the clasps to make the closure, or a small zipper. The cups are almost the perfect shape, maybe just a little tweaking? Not sure. Now I really want to make one! I have several really adorable ones that I outgrew (hey thanks for the way late blooming, Mother Nature LOL). Or use one cup, and sew a single piece of fabric to it? Might work as a little makeup bag or a little monthly supply holder? I think I'm going to go bust out my old bras!
