I love the embroidered tea towel idea!

Unfortunately, I've embroidered on lots of stuff (including suede!) but never a tea towel so I don't have an idea as to where to purchase a tea towel or where to find them. Anyone have any suggestions?

Embroidered tea towels would be absolutely adorable. I just don't know how to embroider... >> or GET tea towels either.

Now see, I've never even considered embroidering a tea towel. Are they usable after being embroidered? Are they for show only? I'm afraid all of that work would get shredded in a week if it's delicate with the way my Husband uses our dish towels. :-/

I'm wicked fast with an embroidery needle. I've been embroidering and sewing since I was 5. I'd love to give this a try if I can wrap my brain around it. Smiley

I get plain, white floursack teatowels to embroidery on at *brace yourselves* Dollar Tree!

Yes, they are still usable.  My grandmother had a days of the weeks set that was 30+ years old, holey as all get out, and still in use when she died.  I think 2 of the days had gone kaput, but some were still in her drawer being used every night.

I just had another idea!

Upcycled denim purses!

I made some last week and I was amazed at how quickly they went together.

I haven't posted any pics yet as I'm finishing up the lining, but I'll add one when I do.  Smiley

sewn menstrual pads
a set of embroidery floss tabs/frames/whatever you call them
stitch markers (be sure to ask if your partner is a knitter or a hooker --- many hookers prefer open-ring markers rather than the normal ones like knitters)
those bent fork/spoon bracelets some people enjoy
a mobile featuring one of your partners themes
a simple, quickie apron out of cute, quirky fabric (that's a small for you good seamstresses -- not for folks like me who would end up with it being a large!  -- be sure to discuss size/ties length with partner -- some of us are fluffier than others)
