it really doesn't matter if someone is overly religious or not.... as long as they abide by the wishes stated in their partners questionnaire.

I don't care for angels, but if my partner wants angels, I would be happy to craft angels for them...  and just hope that my angel is close enough to make them happy.  I think angels are like people -- all different.  That's what makes the world go round.

This is a Christmas swap, which means that everyone is trying to make something nice for someone else.    Don't worry so much..........

I totally agree.  As long as you consider the person you are crafting for......their likes and tastes, not your own.  I just hope if I ever get the courage to organize a swap, I do as good of a job as you are!!

I agree GammieKatie, but some people may find crafting for someone of different religious beliefs a serious challenge given that we only have one week to craft. Smiley

While we are waiting for December 2nd to get here so we can all get our crafting on, why don't we start a list of "smalls" that can give us some inspiration since we have a short period to finish our package?

My problem is that I tend to think in "medium to largish" in size. Coming up with smalls is a challenge for me.

Ok, here's some...

Quote dominoes
needle cases
simple zippered bags
bath stuffs like scrubs, bath bombs and salts
bookmarks
beaded earrings
crocheted hair bands
crocheted coasters
tea wallet

Anyone else have some other ideas?

I had mentioned some earlier on.  And, I've been trying to add some smalls to my wist in an effort to help out folks in my other small-filled holiday swaps.

I've been thinking:

- I just added a very awesome recon'd tin to my wist.  Someone took a tin (an Altoids one would work) and made it into a combination pin cushion/needlebook to carry in WIP bag or purse.  Kickass!!!  I so totally would use one of those.
- homemade lavender olive oil soap
- homemade scrubs in either lavender, peppermint, or rosemary
- beaded earrings (always.  heh.)  (OOooo, and I added some fantabulous book earrings to my wist recently.  Cuter than cute.)
- little zipper pouches out of fabric that's in one of my favorite themes (I have gnome ones on my wist.)
- lavender incense cones
- small stuffies (I rrreeeaaalllllyyyy wish for a shark stuffie, maybe 2 (different species).  *splat*  How hard did that hint just hit? Wink )
- a pendant I could put on either a necklace ribbon or chain
- I added a current popular craftster project to wist that is so beyond awesome.  It's Stonehenge in a Teacup.  Yeah, I freakin NEED that.  How have I lived so long without one?   Cheesy
- for someone whose sewing skills would render it a small timewise (not me!), I really need a new wallet.  Mine's falling apart.  I've got 2 on my wist that give examples of my tastes.
- a craftster-afied plant pot for when spring gardening finally rolls back around
- for a speedy, skilled hooker or knitter who could do it in a small's time:  nifty striped, wacky, soft, fluffy socks (NOT wool)
- If someone has a buttonmaker, she could ask her partner for images or sayings she wants made into buttons to wear on jacket, purse strap, whatever.
- hair barrettes
- bookmarks
- pot holders (be sure not to use acrylic yarn that would melt under high heat -- but, some with cute fabric and heat safe backing would be great)

Now see, I'm glad I posted on this aiki.

I would have never even considered doing things for the kitchen like hot pads. This would be due to the influence of my husband on me. He firmly believes that holiday gifts should be about fun, not function, so we have very few pieces of clothing under our tree. LOL!

To add to the functional kitchen items...What about:

coaster set
Cloth napkins
Oven mitt/pot holder
Fabric Trivet

Maybe...

rag dolls
upcycled felted hat or mittens
Cozies--phone, Ipod, glasses, mug/cup, etc
Simple wallets/pouches

I love seeing all the ideas!  Kinda gets you on a roll....
