Oh I love it! what a nice sister you are. I agree that the pearl should be added, if only as a removeable pin because it's such a part of it. It's so pretty and looks classy!

After fighting with vinyl/man made leather fabric making a coat for myself I too used the tissue paper trick. After the first couple seams I narrowed my stitch length to make the tissue more perforated (sp) it tore off much easier with the holes closer together.

I must admit, I didn't have the same Barbie purse but I KNOW my daughter's Barbie haram did. lol

I would love to see it quilted too! As for the pearl button, why not put a gromet in the flap and make a cuff link flob backing for a pearl button? Check out some cool cuff links at the second hand store.
