I just love punchneedle! It took under 2 hours to make this poinsettia ornament (it's about 2.5" across). I locked the backing fabric with fabric glue so it wouldn't fray and then snipped the excess fabric away around the edge of each leaf. It has a felt backing to hide the back of the embroidery.

If you'd like to make one too, I've put up the pattern and full directions on my blog: http://www.planetjune.com/punchneedlepoinsettia/

I think it makes a really cute tree decoration (I know it's a bit early - I got the tree out just to take this pic and then put it away again!  Cheesy)

You know, I have the whole punch needle set complete with thread but I could never get the hang of it, but I really like what you did with this poinsettia Smiley

Thank you! If you have any punchneedle questions I can help you with, I'd be happy to! It's really simple once you get the basic punching motion figured out.

I like punchneedle, too. It's one of those crafts that I find extremely satisfying to do. I LOVE your pointsettia!

I took out a punch needle kit out then put it back when it starting talking about special material.   Now I have renewed interest.  Thanks for sharing!!

You can punch onto a lot of woven fabrics, but here's a tip: if your fabric won't support it, just iron woven fusible interfacing (not fusible web) onto the back before you begin and it'll work just fine!
