lol, i am glad my pain is funny (sarcasm thick statement)

my husband used to say it alot, then laugh when my face gets all weird

i dont know why i give that word that power, i really dont...but something about it just irks me (i am of the school of thought that words are words and how they make us feel or act is our choice...hence i use any word i like any time i like)

This sounds fun.  Phrases that have been getting on my goat lately: (I mostly hear these from young-uns, but at 29 I;m hardly old)
-Back in the day- You're 15, you don't have a day
and
-Old School when referencing something from 2 years ago.

Though I was talking about this with my husband and he says we are just feeling the way our parents did when we asked them about such and such from when they were little in the olden days. Grin

There are so many great things that could incorporate our dislike for certain sayings

my husband used to be in the army, and thought a particular "c" word was in common use.... its not, and never will be in my house, and if it is ever even referred to its the "furry word"

if i got some kind of cross stitch sampler with "furry word" would be hilarious Cheesy

I am hating the word "random" especially when over used and out of context completely ... erk

Ah words!  I have a degree in linguistics (which is right up their with Philosophy on the "Without a Phd and a teaching job you're screwed" list.)  I have some words that get on my nerves and some "word people" who really get on my nerves!

I also have another thing to add to my overall list:  cheek air kisses.  If we don't know each other well enough to plant one on, then get outta my face.  I'm French and we actually touch cheeks or lips to cheeks and never do it to someone we barely know!
<end of rant>

I totally love the "furry word!"  My husband was Army, too, so I know what you mean.  Every time someone said the c word my whole body would cringe.

kwiltykate, we totally should be partners on this.  Cheesy   Everything on your list drives me batty, too.

Oooh, I hate cheek air kisses too!
And that made me think about something else I hate: Air quotes. Pretentious and irritating, anyone? Grr.

The furry word cracks me up.
