I started studying clothing this autumn. One of the first classes was reconstructing. I bought a black shirt and blue striped men's trousers from a thrift store (and supported animal shelter). The shirt was a little too small for me and the trousers were huge. I didn't have a plan when I bought them, I just needed material to work with at school. Very quickly I got an idea of a dress. And here's the finished product.

I cut out the sleeves and upper part of the shirt and turned it backwards. I also made it more closefitting by cutting some fabric from the sides and making darts. Then I cut all the seams off the trousers and made the bottom part (is it called lap?) and straps. Here's what it looks like from behind.

I saved the back pocket of the trousers and used it as a pocket on left side.

And here's what I started with.

I'm here to learn, drool, covet, and be inspired.  Maybe someday I'll be brave enough to post my creations.  Maybe.
