Leafy green vegetables grow very well for me in the garden most of the year.  Turnips, mustard, collards, parsley, etc.  You know, the kind we're supposed to be eating for health!

Problem is, I don't know what to do with them besides make soup.  Huh


Any suggestions?

Thanks.  Most seem to include pork, and we don't eat it.  That's the problem with southern food and soul food "boiled greens" recipes, they use a lot of pork and salt.  But I'll keep looking through them and see what I can find that doesn't have pork and salt as key ingredients.   Smiley

If there are any ingredients you don't want included in the searches, just add a minus sign in front of that word and add that to the end of the search string.

So for example if you were doing a brand new search at google, you'd use this search string:
recipes greens -pork
Or if you wanted to change the url that results from the search, you'd have to add a plus sign in front of the minus-and-word sign:
http://www.google.com/search?q=recipes+greens+-pork

I'd already done that for the word soup in the first link I'd given, but here's a direct url that removes soup and all kinds of pork products from the search:
http://www.google.com/search?q=recipes+greens+-soup+-pork+-bacon+-ham
Ooops, sometimes Craftster doesn't recognize urls with plus signs in them as whole links (or bolding too), so I'll have to redo that url and remove all the bolding... may have to use the hyperlink command icon too but should hopefully be a complete and clickable link then:
http://www.google.com/search?q=recipes+greens+-soup+-pork+-bacon+-ham

You could also just substitute some other kind of meat or tofu or portobellos, etc., for the pork in any recipes, or just leave it out altogether.  There are various kinds of "sausages" and other preparations usually done with pork that are done with beef or chicken these days too.

I tried making braised turnip greens with garlic, served with brown rice, and it was a pretty good start I think, just needs some tweaking with seasonings, maybe some broth.
