So one of my very close friends from college got married this past September. I wanted to give them something beyond the typical registry gifts. I decided to make them an afghan for the wedding out of their favorite colors hers, purple his Blue. I used this http://web.archive.org/web/20010711184037/members.aol.com/lffunt/spanish.htm pattern for the squares. I honestly don't know why I thought making an afghan out of granny squares was going to be a good idea I hate granny squares. I hate the monotony mostly. It took me about 7 months to make but that was with substantial periods where I did nothing. I have since taken a break from crocheting since I'm sick of just staring at the same pattern Cheesy

Onto the pictures! (It looks a bit wonky but it's really not that bad in real life)

Close up of a square and the border:

Thanks for looking! Comments and criticism welcome!

That's fab - I like that the purple isn't 'PURPLE', it's nice and muted

Nice choice of colors and I love the motif in the middle. Different than most motifs I have seen.

I think that may be the nicest granny square motif combined with a pretty awesome color palette. Nice job!

This is beautiful! You can never go wrong with a granny square, they are my favorite types of blankets to make, they're fast and easy!  Grin

Great job!  I know how annoying granny squares can be, but they make the most unique afghans I think.  Your friends are lucky to receive this  Smiley

Thanks everyone! When my friend told me that her and her fiancee's favorite colors were purple and blue I was like yay what great complimenting colors!  Roll Eyes but I really ended up liking how they worked together.
