I have no idea if these are an actual food with an actual name, but we just call them "Pillsbury Sandwiches" at our house!
You're gonna need:
2 tubes of Pillsbury croissant rolls (we're bad... we like the extra buttery, extra flaky kind)
Various deli meat & cheese or other filler (we like to make "baked mac&cheese sandwiches")
What you need to do:
Preheat the oven to the temp on the croissants.
Spray/line a cookie sheet.
Unroll 1 tube of pillsbury croissants... so they're laying flat on the baking sheet.
Pinch together the areas where they are precut to be croissants... so you have a 1 big dough piece.
Put ingredients in! Leave about a 1/2" border around the edges.
Unroll the other tube, pinch together seams, and lay it on top of your meat&cheese and pinch together the whole outside edges.
Now it's a giant, rectangle calzone!
Sprinkle shredded cheese on top and bake!
(just follow the croissant baking instructions or eyeball it)
When it's done, let it cool and then cut with a pizza cutter!!
***Please note, the one in my photo is a mini one... it's just 2 croissants on the bottom and 2 on the top, made into a pocket.
EDIT! My friend told me that this is very similar to something they made as kids and he said his mom used a fork to "pinch" together the outside seam so it made a decorative edge! Definitely gonna try it that way next time!
