Patchwork / embroidered tree bag

I made this bag for a swap a bit ago but never got around to posting it separately. It consists of a lot of firsts for me: first try at patchwork, first handmade totebag, first try at freehand embroidery, and it was made for my first swap. I used this fusible stuff to line it which makes it water-resistant, and also largely impervious to needles: I broke six heavy-duty ones making it.

I was heavily influenced by this project from my partner's wist. It's far from perfect, but I really love how it turned out! So much so that it was really hard to give away.   My partner adored it though, so it was worth it in the end!

Beautiful.  I really like the look of patchwork, but find it rather time consuming.  Haha, I buy fabric that looks like patchwork, but then I feel like a poser.

It was very time-consuming, mostly because I'm a little OCD. But I do love the look myself. I keep thinking I'll do more of it.

It was hard but I don't regret it a bit! I'm just so happy that you like it as much as I do! (BTW I use my book cover every day! And I've been using the art journal too! )

This is lovely! I really like the colors you picked! So pretty and relaxing. The embroidery is so neat and tidy. I'm not good at that sort of thing so I find it impressive when someone can do it well.
I know nothing about quilting but I do love the look of quilted projects so I love your bag!

Thanks, Eliea! I love those colors and luckily so did my partner. Unfortunately I can see all kinds of mistakes in my stitching, but I'm always my worst critic. Overall, it was really fun to make and made me want to try more patchwork.

What I love mostly about swapping is that the recipient doesn't usually see the flaws, only the love and effort put into a project. I will be watching to see what else you have posted now. Your work is stunning.
