I've recently become OBSESSED with making tile coasters! Which is quite nice since i'm a broke college student and Christmas gifts will definitely be handmade this year lol.

Just purchased tiles - found pretty paper - sealed with mod podge then coated 3 times with a polyacrylic to make them last...any flat paper I come across is now a potential coaster!

Oooh. My godmother was just asking me what could she do with her left over tiles from remodeling her bathroom! What a great idea!

And your set turned out beautiful.

Velkos - it was just random scrapbook paper I picked up at Joanns. I can say that it was a bit thicker then average and it worked perfectly...I tried using some thinner paper and it is a bit harder to get it on perfectly even (bubbles and what not).

You say you sealed with poly-acrylic, is this water proof? Where do you get it? Is it expensive?

This looks like a great project!

Really handsome coasters...

Did you use spray on polyacrylic sealer or brush on? Was there compatibility between the Modpodge and the sealer? I guess I always wonder about mixing mediums one on top of another.  Huh  Tongue
