it's my friend's birthday soon, and i want to get her something very very meaningful....

so you're probably all thinking, if its such a meaningful gift, why can't i come up with it myself?

i just want this to mean a lot to her. i don't care if it is a time-consuming gift. actually, the more time-consuming, the better--i want a lot of love to go into this.

i thought about getting her a typewriter, which is really a good idea but something merely store-bought is out of the question. i was trying to think of something i could give along with a typewriter, or some way i could modify the typewriter. but no such luck.

so if you could all just rattle off gift ideas, like things you've given loved ones in the past  or just gifts to people who mean a lot, that'd be nice. i dont think listing the types of things she like will be of much help. really, the gift doesn't even have to be all that useful. it just needs to be a very meaningful thing... almost like a piece of art.

if you found an old tyepwihter at a thriftstore.. you could take the keys off and make some sort of jewelrey out of it.. i know i saw this somewhere.. so perhaps that could accompany the typewriter

or take the keys and make a collage or shadowbox...

You are supposed to keep typewriters covered, so make a cool cover for it.
