I'm still a beginner on sewing, and a problem that I have had on pants is getting the crotch to come out right. I'm a petite person that is still curvy because I have the hourglass hips. So when I get the pants sewn - the crotch is too low making the pants look huge and baggy on me. I know there is a line on the pattern piece to shorten it to match your height, are you supossed to do the same on the crotch of the pants as well? I feel like I am missing something.  Huh

Thank you!

If you put on the pants and pull the pants up so the crotch is where you want it does the crotch fit right? (Yes the waist won't because it will be way too high). If that fits then on the pattern you shorten the the "hip depth" the distance between the crotch curve and the waist on the lengthen/shorten line (if there is one).
