this is really cool, I'll have to try it someday.
it would make a really cool quilt if you made a bunch of squares and stitched them all together.
do you know how washable it is?
thanks for posting such a fun project!

This kind of project just gets the creative wheels turning Smiley I have a lot of ideas of how to use this.

What are you going to do with the squares of fabric you made?

I bought some small sparkly glass beads, so I am thinking daughter and I might make some ornament gifts for the holidays.  Ideally, we'd use these as quilt square centers, but if I set them aside for that, there is no telling how long it might take until they become that quilt...  Roll Eyes

I did this with some watercolor paper and I didn't like the effect.. watercolors would clearly be better with that paper.. I also did paper towels.  That worked, but they look very paper-towely, co my personal preference is the fabric squares.

That's amazing.  The first thing that popped into my mind when you displayed all of your creations was,  Wouldn't that make a beautiful quilt for your little girl!

These are beautiful. I wish I had seen it earlier. I have a baby shower to go to and I have a baby size handmade quilt that needs some jazzing up. I don't think I have enough time to make it into a gift by this weekend. Are you sure the marker will stay after heat setting?

I think the dye will stay as well as Sharpie markers usually stay which is to say that they fade a bit over time...   I have not done washability tests on Sharpies.  I  was thinking that if I made these into a quilt that maybe I might wash on the delicate cycle and dry gently instead of my usual rigorous wash and dry cycles.  On a baby quilt gift, the new parents might not really want to deal with special washing instructions  Wink

Maybe someone has already suggested this in the comments -- i haven't read through all of them yet -- but wouldn't it be fun/cool/pretty to make a quilt out of cropped "dye burst" squares?
