so i decided to try to experiment with my own hat pattern. I usually make hats with evenly spaced ribbing separated with dcs, so i decided to forgo the dcs and use increasing clusters. at least i think they are clusters, i could be wrong. to my suprise, the clusters didn't just increase the crown size, but also made the ribbing kinda wave like! anyway, i hope i can do it again, lol. the best part about this hat is that i made the heart button myself! oh, and excuse my goofy pics, i hate having to be a model, lol.
on to the pics:

c&c welcome!

I don't know what a cluster is, but I like the spiral effect, and that you made the button yourself.

I also don't really know what a cluster is. haha.  Tongue I think it looks amazing, though! Very pretty and perfect in pink. I also really like the button. My poly clay buttons never turn out so well.

Thanks, JanelleJ! keep trying with the poly clay! i love not ever having to buy buttons again! lol. i think the key is to work the clay ALOT. takes a long time, but it is worth it.
