I've been working on a few free motion, machine stitched pictures lately and I think this is the one that came out the best.
My wee laddie totally adores his wooden train set, so I have tried to capture him in a moment of concentration.
I had real problems doing the hair. He hasn't got all that much and what there is of it is palest silvery blond and nigh on impossible to draw properly with black thread!

I commented on this on Flickr, but maybe I can say it better here.

Your piece is so quiet, strong and moving that it takes my breath away, and not just because my two sons have been playing with wooden trains since toddlerhood, too!  Wink

I would love to see a video of you making your pieces.  I am intrigued by free motion machine embroidery but I've never seen it in 'action.'

Your thread work is just gorgeous.  I hope you date them, make more as he grows up and when he graduates high school or college you'll have a memory quilt ready to make!  That is just amazing.
