Ok so apparently I can't do anything simply.  Wink My very first try at buttonholes, I decided to make a waistband with buttonholes to weave through a ribbon/tie. I was so intimidated trying to make sure they were all perfectly aligned!!  Shocked In the end, I loved how it turned out! This dress is from another one I had tested out using sheets a little while ago (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=324667.0). I tweaked a couple of details and instead of using elastic in the waistband I did the woven ribbon.

Close up of waistband so you can see the buttonholes a little better. I had to space them so the design on the tie would repeat.

Dress back untied

Dress back tied. I love how when it's tied it creates pleats that mimic the pleats in the front.

Thanks for looking!

I love the dress the colors are very pretty together.  I have not gotten brave enough to try buttons and button holes.  I've used snaps but that as far as it goes.  I love your work.

Is this an automatic button hole stitch on your machine, or are you doing it manually?

The machine I learned to sew on didn't have a buttonhole function, so it was only about 2 years ago that I was able to do it automatically. So much easier!

It's an auto buttonhole! I may be brave, but not enough to try them manually!  Shocked

Awww thanks so much! This one is intended for my shop (that I will open one day! ). I made it too big for my girls or I would be really tempted to keep it!

This is for a child?!? When  looked at it I thought it would be a cute long top for a woman with a pair of leggings! Did you make this from a pattern? I would like to make one for myself!

No, this is self drafted. Most of my designs are inspired by women's clothes.
