I designed this hat with a combo of knit and crochet stitches. The top of the hat is crocheted, the bottom half with the trellis cable pattern is knitted.  I used a very soft wool that is hand spun in Michigan, where I live.

awesome hat! I had no idea you could put knitting and crocheting into the same project .. I've been doing both for about 11 years now.

How did you do that? I couldn't even imagine how to begin something like that, but I would love some tips if you wouldn't mind .. the possibilities for this are endless!
