So leet! Me and my boyfriend quit in may but were talking about going as our belf locks. Being in T7 gear made is too hard for us to fathom how to make the robes and shoulders. This make me want to play again and try crafting them for next year. Go go cataclysm can't wait.

I joked that I'm going to roll a clothie just so I can have an easier time making the costumes next year  Tongue  But you're right, the tiered gear is insane!!!  Even the cloth armor is so detailed, it would be nutty to make.

I looked at a lot of costumes on Cosplay.com, and those folks are serious.  There are some amazing costumes on there, and it was hard not to get caught up in a sort of "keeping up with the Joneses" mentality.  I had to pull myself back by reminding myself I had two costumes and only a month to make them and a limited budget.

A lot of the cosplayers chose tiered gear because it's recognizable, but for whatever reason I liked the idea of making my costume a "snapshot in time" of my character, with the random assortment of gear you acquire while leveling.  It was sort of a mixed blessing that the costume took so much of my time I actually stopped playing, so Hermetus and others, I sympathize!

@Spirited: I want to see pictures of your costumes!

Thanks everyone for the kind words!

How did you do your gloves?

The gloves are different colors of vinyl, with the contrasting pieces sewn on top of the brown leather-look base.  The vinyl was antiqued with black acrylic.  I needed a fast way to simulate those outlines, and while it's not perfect, 1/4" purple cording highlighted w/ silver spray paint was at least easy.  I sewed a tube of brown knit to the upper cuff and tucked it inside to create a fake lining.  The crescents are made from Crayola Model Magic and painted with acrylic.

Note to self: hot glue does not like to stick to vinyl.  Cry  epic fail.
