so i have decited why not
try
to make my wedding dress. cant hurt right? so this is kinda what i want.
an illusion neckline, however i would like a sweetheart illusion neckline, where in the picture its straight accross. thats not really the tricky part i need a pattern that is for the illusion part. i already have my lace picked out but i dont have a perfect pattern, there is a mcCalls but its not exact so i was wondering if you lovely craftsters had any suggestions.

If you have a tank top that fits you well and has the basic shape you want, you could trace it onto your lace.

KraftsandKreations has a good suggestion, but I'd suggest using a thin fabric as a mock-up before cutting into your lace of course. That way you can make sure your finished product is exactly the way you want it to be. Good luck!

you could try using a rolled hem on the lace and have that on the inside.

There probably wont be one perfect pattern for it but if it were me I would start with a pattern like
B4443
. These kinds of gowns are typically made by making two separate bodices and attaching them to the same skirt,
like this one
, if you were to use the pattern above you could use the view with the higher neckline for the lace and change the one with the lower neckline into a sweetheart for the other fabric...and use another pattern for the skirt. You would definitely want to make a mockup - hope we get to see pics when its finished!

thats what i will have to do i think, not only to make the hem look nice and clean but to secure it so that it doesnt fray because thats somthing else im afraid of. the lace i want is only $5 a yard so i might just try it out and if i fail the first time then whatever its only $5 right?

Simplicity pattern 4070 (
http://www.simplicity.com/p-2091-missmiss-petite-special-occasion-dresses.aspx
) has a fairly similar dress. The lace on this one goes all the way down the dress, but the bodice and the skirt are sewn together at the waist so you could very well stop the lace at that seam. The sweetheart seems to be a more subtle one, but I'm sure that could be easily adjusted if desired. If you don't like the skirt you could always find a different pattern for it, make your own, or adjust the one provided to your liking.
I hope this helps if you haven't already found something that works

That might be a good starting place for a pattern to adjust.
