Belly dance, Arabic Dance, Dance du Ventre, Danse Orientale, or Raqs Skarki--call it what you will, Belly Dance has found it's way into the hearts of many creative people! With it's ever growing popularity and health benefits, this dance is becoming more and more prevalent and has made its way from the restaurants and theaters and into art festivals and television. It has taken shape into many different forms from Cabaret and Classical Egyptian to Tribal Fusion and ATS, and every combination under the sun. So how about making it appear for a 3rd encore as a Craftster swap?

I took the dates and holidays into consideration and I thought I would make sign-ups Nov. 9th through Nov. 19th. The crafting Period would be Nov 19th through January 9th, giving a 7 week crafting period.  Wink

Items we could craft for each other in Belly Dance Swap Round 3 can include:

Anything that jingles or sparkles, flows or flourishes
Middle eastern inspired art
Hair adornments
zill bags
Cosmetics
Photo albums for those hafla pics
Costume Malfunction Emergency Kit (with safety pins, a simple sewing kit, Nippits, extra sequins, beads, coins, Tide pen, etc
Dancer In Distress kit (Includes things to calm nerves and anxiety backstage--aromatherapy lotion or mist (lavender!!), chocolate, little messages of support-etc
jewelry
costume accessories (beads, fringe, coins, Kuchi pendants, etc)
choli tops or simple halters
belts
hip scarves
armlets/bracelets/anklets
bindiis
henna tattoos
incense
belly dance pins, buttons, bumper stickers
gently used hand me-downs (with the understanding that this can NOT count as the large item)
books or other media that has been seen or listened to, and could be passed on. (same rule as above)
anything that inspires us to dance!
(its me Wink)

I am in LOVE with belly dance and I would so be all about this swap, provided I wasn't too busy with my current swaps. I'm usually pretty good with multitasking but it would depend on the dates. But I know myself, I probably would not be able to pass this up anyway lol

Interested, but it would really depend on the dates. What with Christmas looming and all...

While I'm not a belly dancer, I've been watching videos and tutorials online and would really like to get into it more.  I'd definitely be up for this swap too.  Since this falls right over my college's winter break, I think it would be a great period for a swap!

Keep us posted!

Glad that date works for you! Longer crafting period = less stress during the holidays. The winter always inspires me to craft, the eggnog helps.  Wink

I haven't been dancing much lately, the class schedule conflicted with my horseback riding night, but a swap like this would be fun, maybe be an excuse to try some jewelry making.  Saturn, that is a beautiful pic of you!

What about a hoodie with jingly coins sewn all over it?

Thanks! The DH took it at the beginning of Spring last year, I had to dodge oncoming flocks of seagulls because they were strangely drawn to the sequins on my costume!

I like the hoodie idea! I've been begging my dance school to make a hooded jacket with their logo on it to no avail, lol.
