So, I'm putting a little science in the winter holidays section, with ornaments fit for your cabinet of curiosity, with a natural history theme. I am making lino block prints onto fabric, hand-sewing onto a backing fabric with a little ribbon to suspend them.  Grin

This is a fly agaric mushroom, the moon, a blue whale, a monarch butterfly and a microscopic radiolarian front and back. Here are some more:

The lino blocks are pretty detailed, but the basic concept is very simple. You could make something similar using stamps, if you don't carve, or even try potato stamping onto fabrics. It's fun! I am using water-based block printing ink, which I heat set with a iron.

The idea behind this is fantastic.  I'm bored to death of snowmen and reindeer and the like-- really, I like sciencey stuff so much better.  You've made these beautifully!!

How is it that Firefly gets cancelled after one measly season, but Tim and Eric Awesome Show has had five ?!?

Thank you very much! Poisonous mushrooms, insects, whales, the moon and microbes are definitely for the bored to death of snowmen & reindeer set.  Wink
