Definitely no retail chain stores for this challenge.

Try to stick to thrift stores, but if you don't have one in your area, perhaps you could find a yard, garage sale or curb find.

Not for this particular challenge.  Part of the challenge this time is the hunt for the ugly item!

I had asked once already and didn't appear to get an answer, so I'll ask again. Can I use my dumpster find or must I spend money on something else?

Can I use my dumpster find that I have been working on instead of purchasing another item at a thrift store?

It would probably be fun to go out and find something just for this challenge (be it at the thrift store or from a dumpster).  We don't require receipt scans for this challenge, so use your best judgement.

What about additional supplies needed (paints, thread, etc.) are there any guidelines regarding this?  Do they get included in the total cost?

I was wondering the same thing sort of - like, what if you are recovering something - does the fabric have to be from the thrift shop too?

Your main/ugly item should be from the thrift store, but additional supplies can be from your stash, from other stores, etc.  Additional supplies do not need to be included in your total cost.

Yay! I just bought enough items at the thrift store for not 1, but actually 3 specific ugly-to-awesome projects. Haha. Now to see which one makes the cut (AKA a) that I finish it; and b) that it's the most impressive).

Just to clarify, I'm in England, and we don't have 'thrift' shops....is this like a £1 / $1 shop? or more like a chairty shop?
