The Full Costume

Close up of Hat details

I was sort of inspired by the upcoming Alice in wonderland movie to finally get around to dressing as the Mad Hatter.  I was part of a group costume (Alice, Cheshire Cat, Red Queen) but while I helped make parts of those costumes this is the only one I can really take credit for and am entering.  (Plus our group pics didn't come out good  - we are thinking of dressing up to go see the movie so hopefully we'll get better ones then)

What I made:
The dress and shrug - simplicity 9247 (it's an oldish pattern)
The purse - my own pattern

What I altered -
The hat
The stockings (I cut them up but it's hard to see in the photo)
The necklace - I put a tiny china teacup on a chain - again hard to see.

What I had already -
the gloves
the shoes
the earrings
hat pin

What I bought:
the crinoline

I had a blast in the costume and despite the poofyness it wasn't hard to sit in.  Lots of people loved the  costumes.  Even the lady who asked us where the Tin Man was.  Does that make me the cowardly lion?

Thanks.  I was going for "recognizable but unique".
