I have always had a big ole soft spot for marine invertebrates, heck I even have a tattoo of one. Also this year has been really chilly so I KNEW I had to have a full costume (no 'sexy' versions of ANYTHING). Put those 2 together and you get The Magnificent Colossal Squid (Mesonychoteuthis humanii)! My cute ole husband wanted in on the action so I made him a sperm whale based on the famous diorama in the American Museum of Natural History. We battled all night. I think I may have won.

They are both made entirely of ooey gooey soft fleece. I just used old shirts as the pattern pieces and sort of trial and errored the rest. The suckers for the squid tentacles are made from lusciously soft minky fabric.  The tentacular clubs are little mittens that everyone kept stealing because it was so flippin cold Halloween night.
**NOTE** Halloween just happened to fall right on the week that the labs I teach are dissecting their squid. So of COURSE I wore my costume to class. They thought I was awesomely nerdy. I'll take that.

I love your costumes.  Very cool and original.  The Sperm Whale one could be worn year round as a cool novelty sweatshirt.
